0 Introduction to VEX Electrical Components– This video shows you what all of the components are, how they work, and how to interface them with the VEX Cortex & RobotC.
In this series of short videos, learn the basics of how to use RobotC to program a VEX micro-controller to control all of your VEX creations from robots to control systems.
In industry they use PLC’s, in the classroom we use arduino and VEX components. Mind boggling! It’s all done with some form of logic controller. Think about all of the systems that have to be controlled in a single work cell in a factory... then multiply it by 10’s or 100’s of cells. Now, my problem is that the flashlight, after the everything else before it goes, goes STRAIGHT to flashing, and the variable e that's supposed to grab the time doesn't work. When you think about it, in manufacturing, controlling things is necessary to perform very complex tasks to manufacture items to tolerances finer than a human hair. What I need my vex to do is start when I press a button > turn on and off the 3 LED's> start the timer > turn on flashlights> wait until the lightsensor is blocked by an object (a.k.a the runner, a.k.a making it dark)> once the lightsensor passes that threshold> time is grabbed/ 'recorded' by a given variable> once that happens the flashlights blinks until I stop the program (trying to make it like, OMOGMGOGMG YOU WON YAY YU'RE IN FIRST PLACE YAYAYYAYAYAY GOOD JOBBBBB!!!!!)
So basically, what I want to do is make a 'Start/Finish Line' program. Hello, I don't know if this should go in the r/robotc or r/vex forums but here I go. Robot Virtual Worlds is a high-end simulation environment that enables students, without robots, to learn programming.RVW simulates popular real world VEX®, LEGO®, and TETRIX® robots in 3D environments while using the same language, ROBOTC, to program both virtual and physical robots. Follow the instructions printed on your CD case or online at to activate your copy of ROBOTC. Click OK to acknowledge and dismiss the message.

There are still a handful of good sites out there and they may not be maintained, but you can use the Wayback Machine to read the pages they used to link to. There are still a few sites around that support the original Mindstorms RCX sets, but they are disappearing and the information on them is less valuable as we move away from the versions of Windows that were supported. People found ways to make them work under heavily patched copies of Windows XP, but since Microsoft no longer supports XP and the patches from Lego aren't available anymore, I had to find an alternative to the Lego software.
According to what I have read and some experience, the sets only really work well under Windows 98. The main problem with Mindstorms RCX is the lack of support from Lego for these old sets. Because these sets are nearly 20 years old, there are usually some problems, so once I got my set working I thought I would document the process for others to follow. Now that they are somewhat antiquated, you can usually pick them up pretty cheaply. I have wanted one of these for a while, but I never got around to buying one. I found one of the original Lego Mindstorms kits at a garage sale and I had to buy it. A torrent is a pretty snazzy idea, I posted. PROS is the perfect way to do just that, if taught properly (which you are perfectly capable of being). Especially because I know there are many programmers that want to get experience beyond ROBOTC and Eas圜. Community Technical Discussion 4 years ago.
